Jason Henderly

Jason has a long history in the world of sales. When he met Lonnie at the original Covert Comics, he realized he might be able to make his hobby and his business work together. He opened the Foley location in 2016 and worked with Lonnie to expand the company until 2019 when he purchased Covert from Lonnie. Jason has continued to grow Covert Comics as not only a business, but a work family. As a proud Husband and Father of four, he has worked hard to make Covert an environment where kids and adults alike are welcome!

  • What do you love most about owning Covert?

    I love the interactions I get to share with both staff and customers, and never knowing what conversations or unique items I will get to see come through the shop on a daily basis.

  • We all collect something. What is in your collection?

    I collect key comic issues (especially bronze and silver age) and Chicago Cubs memorabilia...and children.

  • What is one thing you want our customers to know about you?

    One of the reasons I’ve always been drawn to Comics, and superhero comics in particular, is the fairly consistent theme that we, as flawed humans, are all in need of heroes, because we need saving. Therefore, Superhero stories help show man his need for God. This theme has been present in the stories and myths of most cultures throughout human history, and continues today to the genre of comic books.

Kevin Nowlin

Kevin is our newest addition to the shop, having joined us in 2022. He is an import from the Chicago area, but we don't hold it against him (Only because he has been in Alabama for 25 years now). Kevin is our coin expert, video game repair guy and more. We are convinced there is nothing he can't figure out. Kevin lives on the eastern shore with his wife and 2 kids. You can find him there in his favorite coffee shop working on his novel, which we are waiting anxiously to read.

  • What do you love most about working at Covert?

    I like the people I work with and the customers. Everyone is nice.

  • We all collect something. What is in your collection?

    I collect antiquities, coins and odds and ends from the twenties through the fifties, whatever strikes me.

  • What is one thing you want our customers to know about you?

    It sounds corny but I always have their best interests at heart and want to make sure they are happy with what they buy from me.

Mike Campbell

Mike started at Covert in 2019 after being a customer for quite some time and constantly begging for a part-time job here. Mike's interests change almost daily, and the shop has plenty of different work to support that. He does most of our graphic design and social media work, and hopes to one day retire from his real job and own his own business, either in graphic design or retail.

  • What do you love most about working at Covert?

    Covert is a break from the real world and a place I get to help people and talk about all of our nerdy hobbies.

  • We all collect something. What is in your collection?

    I collect just about anything I get my hands on, but my two favorite and most serious collections are Pokemon Cards and Amazing Spider-Man comics!

  • What is one thing you want our customers to know about you?

    My greatest achievement. My kids are my pride and joy and love the fact that "Daddy works at the comic shop" They know how great this community is, and they love being a part of it!
